Privacy Policy
We built Hiker Trash for hikers, not advertisers. We do not sell your personal information or precise location data.
Information We Collect
Account information. We collect information needed to create and operate your account, such as your email address, trail name, profile information, and authentication information.
Hiking and user-generated content. Information you choose to save in Hiker Trash may include trips, hiking logs, mileage, photos, profile content, social connections, and other content you create in the app.
Precise location. If you grant location permission and use location features, Hiker Trash may collect your device's precise location to provide map, hiker-location, and related features. Your location visibility is controlled through the app's privacy settings. Depending on the settings you choose, location information may be visible to other Hiker Trash users.
App and device information. We may collect app interactions, device identifiers, crash logs, and diagnostic information needed to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve Hiker Trash.
How We Use Information
- Provide authentication and maintain your Hiker Trash account.
- Save and synchronize your hiking records and profile information.
- Provide maps, location features, Tramily and other social features according to your settings.
- Calculate and display hiking history and analytics.
- Diagnose crashes, fix problems, prevent abuse, and improve the service.
- Respond to support and account-deletion requests.
Service Providers
Hiker Trash uses Google Firebase services for functions such as authentication, database storage, file storage, and related app infrastructure. These providers may process information on our behalf as necessary to provide their services. We do not sell your personal information to them or to advertising networks.
Location & Privacy Controls
Location sharing is a feature you control. You can change location-privacy settings in Hiker Trash, and you can also disable location permission through your device settings. Disabling location access prevents Hiker Trash from collecting new precise location information from your device for location-based features.
Hiker Trash does not sell your precise location. When you choose to make location information visible through the app, that information may be displayed to other Hiker Trash users according to the privacy settings you selected.
Data Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information handled by Hiker Trash. No Internet-connected service can guarantee absolute security, so we do not promise that data can never be accessed, lost, or disclosed as the result of a security incident.
Account & Data Deletion
You can permanently delete your Hiker Trash account from the app's Settings screen. If you no longer have access to the app, you can request account deletion from our Delete Account page.
Account deletion removes the Hiker Trash account and user data associated with that account. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Requests submitted through support are generally completed within 30 days after account ownership is verified.

Terms of Service
Use Hiker Trash Responsibly
Hiker Trash is a hiking logbook, analytics, mapping, and social tool. Hiking and backcountry travel involve real risks. Hiker Trash is not an emergency service, SOS device, or substitute for appropriate navigation, safety equipment, judgment, and preparation.
Your Content
You retain ownership of the logs, photos, and other content you create. By using features that display or share your content, you give Hiker Trash permission to store, process, and display that content as needed to operate the service and provide the visibility you selected.
Respect Other Hikers
Do not use Hiker Trash to harass, threaten, impersonate, stalk, or intentionally expose another person's private information or location without permission. We may restrict or terminate accounts that abuse the service or interfere with other users.
Service Availability
Hiker Trash may change, improve, suspend, or discontinue features over time. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, perfect accuracy, or that every feature will be available on every device or in every location.
Changes To These Terms
We may update this page when Hiker Trash or its data practices change. The current revision date will be posted at the top of this page.
